A Little Road-Trip (In More Ways than One).....

Yesterday, I was able to make a quick trip back to Henderson to visit with some friends of mine there. When we lived there and the kids were not in school yet, we attended playgroup every Thursday morning. It was a morning that all of us moms looked forward to - we could sit and "catch up" for a couple of hours, and the kids had wide open spaces to run in and play!! Well, yesterday just so happened to be playgroup morning, so I was able to see several friends at the same time. We had fun sitting and visiting, watching the kids (who have all grown SO much), and catching up. Thanks, girls, for letting me crash the party.....

After playgroup was over, I followed one of my good friends, Sandy, home with one of her kiddos. You see, Sandy has 3 of her own, AND she keeps 3 other kids! Full house = too many kids to fit in her van. Unfortunately, every other Thursday, Sandy doesn't get the "privilege" (and well deserved break) of going to playgroup because she can't fit everyone in her van! I don't know about you, but if I was in a house with 6 kids all day, I would be DYING for a chance to get out. SO, yesterday was one of the days that she wouldn't have normally been able to go, and I was so glad to be able to help her out! Her boys are so precious, and very used to the camera, as you can tell. I got the camera out at her house and snapped a few pictures. I can't believe how much they've grown! You're doing a good job, Sandy - keep up the good work.

I really enjoyed my visit there, but my drive home proved to be not so enjoyable. You see, I was on the cell phone with Mark (luckily), traveling about 55 mph down the Highway, when a "kamikaze mission" HUGE white dog darted out in front of me! I had no chance to stop without causing a huge accident, and I HIT THE DOG!!! Oh my word - it was awful! I started crying and freaking out on the phone with Mark. I didn't know what to do - I've never hit a dog before. I noticed behind me a car stopping to check on it, I kept going because I knew there was nothing I could do for it, and traveled down the road feeling like the most inhumane person IN THE WORLD!!! Ugh - it was so bad. So, after a "freak out" session, many tears, and $927 worth of damage to the front of my vehicle, I still feel awful. Poor thing. I was very glad I was alone in the car, though, because if you think MY reaction was bad, Kinlee would have died!!! I didn't even tell her! I did tell Parker, though, and now every once in a while, he or Mark will yell "Look out, Noodle" to our dog if I walk in the room, or they will (out of the blue) make dog "yelping noises" - boys are so sensitive!! By the way, you can thank Mark for the "creative" background NOISE on this blog. He has WAY too much time on his hands. (Truth be known, though, Mark was very comforting on the phone when it happened). I know there are lots of ways that it "could have been worse" (not for the dog, I don't think), but I still felt very bad. No pictures to show for it, of course - I am not THAT big of a blogger! Some things are just not picture-worthy. I'll leave that part of my post up to your imagination - it's just better that way.....

Oh bless!!! It was so good to see you. I hate Carter was not feeling his best. He slept for over 2 hours when we got home. Shot days are not going to be fun for awhile! Come again!

I'm sorry, Steph. We just can't continue our friendship. I mean first I find out you don't recycle and now this. A hit and run woman.
Ok, seriously- the crazy thing is the only dog I ever hit was coming back from Henderson when I went to Freed.
Also, I knew right away that Mark is the one that put the puppy bark soundbite on here. :)

Stephanie, if it makes you feel better one December the kids and I were on our way home from church on a Sunday night. It was very strange, but we were singing "Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer" and I hit a deer! Daniel was about four and Katy was seven, so they were appalled that I had hit one of Santa's reindeer. I didn't stop either - it was way too much trauma already. We had deer fur in the front of the Jeep and I don't remember how much damage, but for a long time mom was the one who hit one of Santa's reindeer.
